Plan ahead and anticipate your busy schedule

This can be hard with everything going on in your life right now. Make it easy to have breakfast every day, keep your freezer packed with easy to grab foods like whole grain waffles or English muffins. Try to keep your fridge stocked with different yogurts and fruit that can be easily eaten on the go. All of these make it easy to stay on track with daily breakfast. Spend a few hours on Sunday and organize snacks in baggies. You can choose pretzels, veggies, fruits. Try to pack at least a weeks worth of snacks so that you can throw them in your bag for on-the-go, easy to-eat snacks.

Reflect on your attitude

Take a few minutes to get a mental picture of yourself at your ideal weight. Once you have that picture you can use it to help fight off over-eating and extra snacking. Think small – Challenge yourself to small weight loss goals. Once you accomplish each smaller goal, reward yourself. Keep your goals realistic, in the 5 or 10 pound range. You will find that these smaller achievements will help keep you motivated.

Make Exercise Part of Your Day

Keep a pair of gym shoes and workout clothes with you are all times so that you are always comfortable. Try to get 10-20 minutes of walking in every day. If you put your mind to it you can really find times where it is easy to take a longer walk while you are out doing errands. Take an extra lap around the parking lot at the mall or if you are in the grocery store take an additional lap before you pay. Anytime you do at least 10 minutes worth of exercise write it down on your calendar. When you see how it adds up you will be encouraged to try to fit in more time.

Drink Water

Carry a water bottle with you throughout the day. Water gives the body a sense of fullness and aids in digestion. If you are not a big water drinker try adding lemon or lime to it for a little flavor. Before you sit down to eat dinner drink a glass of water, it will fill you up and will force you to eat less.

Don’t get discouraged with yourself

Even if you fall back into bad habits for a short period of time that doesn’t mean that you have failed. Losing weight takes patience and persistence. Learn from your mistakes, at the end of the week reflect back and see if you could have made better choices. Your mind is a huge influence on how and when you eat. If you can identify certain situations where you overeat you can better handle those situations when they happen again.

If you can make a few positive changes and focus on eating right you will lose the weight.
